DNV RP-C202 Curved Panel Buckling (2019)

DNV RP-C202 Curved Panel Buckling (2019) verifies buckling stability of curved panels and unstiffened circular cylinders. Subsections 3.1-3.4 are implemented covering stability requirements, characteristic buckling strength, and elastic buckling strength of curved panels subject to lateral pressure.

To add the standard execute Standards - Main - DNV - DNV RP-C202 Curved Panel Buckling (2019) from the ribbon:

Dnv_rp_c202_plate_buckling

Press DNV RP-C202 Curved Panel Buckling (2019) | Help | SDC Verifier to Set Standard Custom Settings

Standard uses material data (Yield/Tensile) in calculations. Wizard checks if the values are defined for all materials.

Plate and Stiffener Buckling Checks are calculated on Sections. With the help of Panel Finder tool, it is possible to automatically recognize Section and Plates with their dimensions.

By default, All Sections are included in the selection but can be changed by pressing DNV RP-C202 Curved Panel Buckling (2019) | Help | SDC Verifier . If sections were not recognized press DNV RP-C202 Curved Panel Buckling (2019) | Help | SDC Verifier to run Panel Finder tool.

Plate Buckling options

Thickness Factor - multiplier applied to plate thickness in buckling calculations (e.g. 1.1 increases thickness by 10%) which effectively reduces calculated stresses and increases buckling resistance;

Calculations are performed for each element with converted stresses (into plate direction) or Plate Average Stresses and using Plate dimensions.

Lateral Pressure - affects the buckling behavior and is used in stability calculations according to the standard;

Use Plate Average Stress - uses average element stress across the plate area rather than maximum stress values for buckling verification calculations. The stress is averaged on the plate using element areas, with calculations performed on every element but using the averaged plate stresses.;

Use Absolute Shear for Plate Average (Conservative) - when enabled, uses absolute values of shear stress components;

Stress on Element - specifies which stress results to use from finite element analysis - either Average or Maximum stress values at element level. This determines whether the buckling check uses peak stress concentrations or averaged stress distributions across the element.;

Include Plate Dimensions (Length, Width, Thickness) in Table - when enabled, includes the geometric parameters Length, Width, and Thickness of each plate in the results table. This is useful for verification and documentation purposes, allowing users to confirm that the correct panel dimensions are being used in the buckling calculations.;
